Abstract

In the arid southwest, growth and development depend very much on the available water supply. In order to maintain adequate supplies for the anticipated growth and development in this area, additional water sources must be obtained. This study represents an attempt to determine the characteristics of surface runoff during the summer rainy season in Tucson, Arizona, during 1968. Special emphasis was placed on water quality rather than water quantity. Runoff quality and quantity from an isolated area of 0.77 square miles in the residential portion of Tucson, Arizona were studied. The results of this study are based on runoff from a storm which occurred on August 3, 1968.
