The thesis belongs to the field of Philosophy of Technology and Political Philosophy. Its defense is that high technology is the main factor that shapes the human present and future and pushes us towards a profound new reality. Its title is The invitation of technology to philosophy – Ontology and anthropological stakes of modern technology and it attempts to synthesize the big picture of the most profound (ontological, anthropological, and ethical – i.e., political) challenges Artificial Intelligence, Internet and Bio-technology bring. More specifically, thesis’s purpose is: a) To investigate philosophically the phenomenon of technology, especially artificial intelligence, Internet, and genetic engineering in terms of their ontological and political implications. b) To highlight the reasons high technology creates an urgent need for the diffusion of a Philosophy of Technology in education and the public sphere of the 21st century and c) the thesis itself to be a useful educational tool to this end.The treatise claims that technology is the most natural element of man. An ontological core of his existence that sets him apart from every other being, while thanks to it, almost every element of human culture is shaped timelessly, hence metaphysically. It is therefore necessary to avoid any demonization of technology since it is a central ontological aspect of Homo Sapiens that relieved him of life's ineffable difficulties. But this does not negate the fact that we are now under maximum threats with which he shadows us. These are the ones that are mostly dredged in the present position.Philosophy should deposit its research tools on what kind of world we are making and what kind of world we want to make with the vast technological forces that we are now incubating. What are the universal possibilities and the universal threats that new technology now brings? The issue is so universal and its development depends on so many factors and people (researchers, investors, politicians, military, educators, all users of new technology) that a public diffusion of it is called for in the 21st century. That is why our position suggests a new need of the time: Philosophy of Technology to be disseminated through Education, media and modern culture carriers in the public sphere. From now on, the well-being and perhaps the very survival of human species depends on technology management. Thus, Philosophy of Technology seeks in the last chapter of our thesis to become part of Education. To be taught in the university departments of Philosophy, Informatics or Biology, but mainly in the schools themselves, utilizing for these purposes fields of reflection that are developed in treatises such as this.At the threshold of the 3rd millennium AD we are crossing, while we are sharpening our technology to an unprecedented extent we must also sharpen our self-awareness; and this means gaining an awareness of the deep-rooted consequences technology we create now has for planetary life. This is presented not as a theoretical proposition, but as an…
