A poetics of violence in The Armies by Evelio José Rosero Diago

The following study presents an analysis of Los ejércitos [The armies], by the Colombian narrator Evelio José Rosero Diago. Through the exploration of social aspects presented in the linguistic reality of the text and a rhetoric study, I sought to analyze and place the work in the discursive picture of Colombian contemporary writing. The existence of a poetics of violence that serves Rosero to signify a social phenomenon that constitutes the way in which the author places himself in Colombian literary context. The way of proceeding covered first; an account of the socially relevant discourses that appear in the form of material to be used by the writer. Some of the most commons problems and trends in contemporary writing of violence from different perspectives. Then, through these, the specific stylistic varieties of the author are queried and a study seeking to reveal his poetic is presented. The study’s goal is to become a reference for studies on the uses of the category of violence in literary analysis.
